Please join us for the
First-Annual Jay Austin Simply Be Kind Foundation Bike Ride & Picnic to be held at the West Picnic Area in Mercer County Park at
1638 Trenton Road
in West Windsor, New Jersey, off Exit 8 of the New Jersey Turnpike (originally scheduled for May 3rd, 2020 postponed due to Covid-19).
The West Picnic Area in this beautiful 2,500-acre park offers picnic tables under the trees, a large level grassy area on the ground to spread out picnic blankets, is in close proximity to the restrooms, with plenty of parking right at the picnic area, with easy access to the bike paths and within steps of the lake which offers a serene lake view.
Jay Austin loved cycling for the fun of it, for its health benefit, and for its reduction of greenhouse carbon emissions in lieu of auto travel, since he also used his bike to get to work.
In the United States, transportation is now the largest source of carbon emissions, with the personal automobile being the single greatest polluter.

Jay was also a huge fan of the Sunday afternoon old-fashioned down-on-the-ground in-the-park picnic.
Sadly, on July 29th, 2018, while Jay was cycling the world,
he was tragically murdered in a terrorist attack in Tajikistan, a country in Central Asia,
because he was an American.
In honor of Jay, in his memory, and to keep his spirit alive, we've organized this bike ride and picnic and hope you can join us ..
singles, families, the young and the young at heart.
We ride and picnic for you Jay!
You may ride as near or as far in the park which offers just over three miles of 8' wide asphalt path as well as over 8 miles of dirt trails.
We will have a good-old fashioned down-on-the-ground picnic
but don't panic, tables will also be provided.
Bike rentals are available but may be limited.
The park offers bike rentals through the Zagster app
at $1 per 30 minutes.
We bring you this event to encourage cycling, picnicking .. in essence an appreciation of healthy life choices and an introduction to nature and the great outdoors in the hope that this will not be your one and only bike ride and picnic.
We ask that participants kindly pre-register by September 17th, although not required.
Registration fees for adults and for children age 10 and under will be announced.
This event is limited to 25 participants per park regulations.
If response significantly exceeds 25 participants,
a second event, with a start time of 2:30 pm, may be scheduled.
